- About Instrumentation and Control Engineering:
The Instrumentation and Control or automation engineering deals with Measurement, Control and Automation and covers major aspects of recent developments in automation and control. The rise Fourth Industrial Revolution (or Industry 4.0) is the ongoing automation of traditional manufacturing and industrial practices, using modern control technology is a core content of this discipline. It is a trend towards automation and digital infrastructure being practiced in almost all sectors of industries.

Instrumentation and Control Engineering is one of the advanced fields in engineering. It is a specialized branch of engineering covers recent developments of automation and control. A highly interdisciplinary branch covers major aspects of electrical, electronics, computer, mechanical and process control fundamentals. Biomedical engineering is also important subject of this discipline. Computerized controls are used at very large scale in Process industries. Control and Computing are essential features of any modern instrumentation and control systems. Growing requirements of control and computing has created a large space for research in Instrumentation.
In the broader perspective, the students have wide scope of development as automation and control professional. Like to achieve skills of automation tools like PLC and DCS automation, internet of things (IOT), Robotics, artificial intelligence, process data analytics and recent development.
- Infrastructure and facilities of our Department:
Under Savitribai Phule Pune University, D Y Patil College of Engineering Akurdi Pune (College code is EN6272) is the well established institute provides opportunity to study Instrumentation and Control Engineering. Our department is established in the year 1993 with an intake of 60 seats. The department got accredited by National Board of Accreditation twice in year 2005 and 2013 by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi. The strong infrastructural facility, well-equipped state-of-art laboratories and experienced and dedicated team of faculty members are major strength of this department.
We have active collaborations with renowned automation Industries. Under these joint ventures we conduct regular courses in PLC, SCADA, HMI, Internet of Things, Drives, etc., like important domains of Automation. The objective of these tie-up are to develop the competency of the students to meet challenges of technological advancements in the area of Industrial Automation and Control Engineering.
Department has a excellent track record of University Results and Campus Placements si. Our recent past alumni, Ms. Dhanshree Kad got highest package of 33 lakhs in campus placement. Also our two past students, Mr. Deepak Hinge and Anil Nair stood first in India in Graduate aptitude test in Engineering (GATE), a qualify exam for IITs.
