Student Paper Presentation/Publication in the Year 2014-15
Department of Information Technology was started in the year of 1999 with intake of 30 students, gradually the intake increased to 60, 90 and currently we have intake of 120 students. We are fortunate to be centre of choice for most of the stakeholders in this region. Department has experienced and committed faculty members with vast research experience. We ensure that students are abreast with latest technologies through our regular teaching learning process and additional enrichment programs.
IT department rigorously follows Outcome Based Education in their teaching learning process. Use of NPTEL videos for the students actually improve confidence of the students in the respecting subject to understand. Students are provided all the required platform for their overall development in sports, cultural, curricular, technical & regular academics.
I am pleased to share that our students are consistently excelling in their placement process in highly reputed companies like TCS, Bombardier, and Calsoft etc.
Vision and Mission
Vision
Developing globally competent IT professional for sustainable growth of humanity.
Mission
1. To empower students in developing systems and innovative products for solving real-life problems.
2. To build a strong foundation in computing knowledge that enables self-development entrepreneurship and Intellectual property.
3. To develop passionate IT professional by imparting global competencies and skills for serving society.
DYPCOE was one of the four colleges to start Information Technology course under Savitribai Phule Pune University. Information Technology Department started with intake of 30 in 1999. First batch passed out in 2003. Intake increased to 60 in 2000 and 90 in 2001 and 120 in 2011. IT program conducted by department is of international standard. About 870 students passed out and all are well placed in IT industry. Department is second time accredited by NBA-AICTE in 2013 for the period of 2 years
The Department of Information Technology aims at imparting quality education in the realm of IT, Software Engineering & Domain Specific Application with an objective to enhance and expand the knowledge and skill sets of target students, so that they can contribute in the betterment of Society at large. The department of Information Technology was established with the objective of producing highly proficient technocrats who can meet the standards of the corporate. The department purports to have dexterous mentors adept at molding the student talent pool. A team of well qualified faculty navigates issuing priceless guidance and tapping the potential of students.
It is estimated that a huge number of IT professionals will be needed in India five years down the line in keeping with the global trend. Indian professionals are respected across the world for their IT-related skills. Our focus in this department is not only on completing the curriculum to pass the examinations but we also try to keep up with the developments in the technology and expose the students to the latest to ensure that they are able to cope up with the fast changing IT scenario.
The Department is in purpose-built accommodation, and is equipped with teaching and office space as well as well equipped laboratories for computer-based teaching. In addition, we have well established Computer labs. All faculty of Department are members of various professional societies and technical bodies like IEEE, ACM, CSI, ISTE, IACSIT etc. We have signed MOU with Zensar Technologies for student exchange and projects. Our department is also a member of EMC2 Academic Alliance collaboration with colleges and universities for “Preparing the next generation of IT professionals”.
We are proud to state that our Department has given better placement with good package to the students till date and is running to the Centre of Excellence which conducts number of value added courses for the knowledge and skills up gradation of the students to cater the need of current corporate scenario.

Every sector of the economy now has access to more data than would have been imaginable even a decade ago. Businesses today are accumulating new data at a rate that exceeds their capacity to extract value from it. The question facing every organization that wants to attract a community is how to use data effectively — not just their own data, but all of the data that’s available and relevant. Our ability to derive social and economic value from the newly available data is limited by the lack of expertise. Working with this data requires distinctive new skills and tools. To bridge this talent gap and to upgrade the skills of students, Department of Information Technology established the Centre of Excellence in Data Science.

At DYP with delivery of quality education we equally focus on Athletics, Sports and Recreation which helps in maintaining mental and physical balance throughout their curriculum, eradicating stress. Sports directly or indirectly develop skills in students which shadow them to rest future. We go with the theory “Competition leads Success”. Our sports programs amalgamate indoor and outdoor participation along with inter college events under the coaching of field experts leveling up their competencies to achieve national success.
Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is
The unique philosophy “Sports for networking” of DYP is we don’t want students getting isolated within their streams and fundamentally sports is considered uniting people; our coaches arbitrarily select teams designing formats of competitions wherein all faculties come together as one network. The prospectus of this philosophy chemically brushed as networking lessons to students from sports.

At DYP we make sure that no one feels away from home whether its hostel, canteen or elsewhere in campus as it leads to distraction and low performance of student. In addition to the housing and dining spectacular amenities are enrolled by our esteemed institution like; vibrant hostel rooms, sports arenas, amphitheatre, dedicated workshops and emergency medical assistance. The food cooked at the canteen has a zest of all kinds which suits students coming from distinct locations.
There are separate hostels for boys and girls with 24*7 security and respective rectors. The buildings are close to each other on a walking distance within the campus and are named after legendary people; for example Sarojini Naidu and Kalpana Chawla for girl’s hostel. This is also a part of motivation for students as they feel unique when they step into the hostel rooms. The hostels have a common room also called as T.V room enabled with a Television and sitting arrangements as a part of entertainment and even enjoyment during cricket matches or other events. The hostels have secured Wi-Fi facility for students and staff to browse and research for their assignments.
