CENTER OF EXCELLENCE: DATA SCIENCE

Every sector of the economy now has access to more data than would have been imaginable even a decade ago. Businesses today are accumulating new data at a rate that exceeds their capacity to extract value from it. The question facing every organization that wants to attract a community is how to use data effectively — not just their own data, but all of the data that’s available and relevant.  Our ability to derive social and economic value from the newly available data is limited by the lack of expertise. Working with this data requires distinctive new skills and tools. To bridge this talent gap and to upgrade the skills of students, Department of Information Technology established the Centre of Excellence in Data Science.

Department of Information Technology inaugurated Centre of Excellence for Data Science on 13th July 2019. The following were eminent Dignitaries for the inauguration ceremony of the Centre of Excellence

1. Shri V.V. Parlikar, Outstanding Scientist and Director DRDO
2. Prof. Prabhat Ranjan Vice Chancellor, D Y Patil International University
3. Prof. Arvind Shaligram, Head DIC SPPU, Dean Sci & Tech, SPPU
4. Shri Devendra Maral,Volkswagen, Pune.
5. Shri Prakash Jagtap Chairman & MD SAJ Test Plant Private Ltd.
6. Mr. Vikas Choudhary, Founder and CEO,  Hackers ERA.
7. Dr. Vijay M. Wadhai, Principal, DY Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi

Objective:

  •  To train faculty and students in recent technologies in Data Science, to make them industry ready.
  • To bridge the curriculum and industry

Outcome:

  • Students will become aware about the industry needs in the field of Data Science
  • Students of DYPCOE will enrol and will undergo training on Data Science courses.

SPORTS & ATHLETICS

You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.

At DYP with delivery of quality education we equally focus on Athletics, Sports and Recreation which helps in maintaining mental and physical balance throughout their curriculum, eradicating stress. Sports directly or indirectly develop skills in students which shadow them to rest future. We go with the theory “Competition leads Success”. Our sports programs amalgamate indoor and outdoor participation along with inter college events under the coaching of field experts leveling up their competencies to achieve national success.

Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is

The unique philosophy “Sports for networking” of DYP is we don’t want students getting isolated within their streams and fundamentally sports is considered uniting people; our coaches arbitrarily select teams designing formats of competitions wherein all faculties come together as one network. The prospectus of this philosophy chemically brushed as networking lessons to students from sports.

HEALTH & SAFETY

We live so that when our students think of caring they think of us.

For our students of DYP the medical and pharmaceutical facilities are provided by the DYP medical college which is capable of handling any kind of issues in campus pertaining to student and staff. An ambulance is parked 24*7 in case of emergency at the campus to reduce risk of any unforeseen event. “Prevention is better than cure.” On each floor of all buildings emergency first aid kit with a fire extinguisher and water pipe lines are mounted to overcome unconditional calamities.

“Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community..” Anthony J. D'Angelo

We have a fire drill where we train our staff and student how to be cautious in handling such uneven events. This will also be guidance helpful for them to overcome risks in future.

HOUSING & DINING

The cause of homelessness is lack of housing and dining facilities.

At DYP we make sure that no one feels away from home whether its hostel, canteen or elsewhere in campus as it leads to distraction and low performance of student. In addition to the housing and dining spectacular amenities are enrolled by our esteemed institution like; vibrant hostel rooms, sports arenas, amphitheatre, dedicated workshops and emergency medical assistance. The food cooked at the canteen has a zest of all kinds which suits students coming from distinct locations.

There are separate hostels for boys and girls with 24*7 security and respective rectors. The buildings are close to each other on a walking distance within the campus and are named after legendary people; for example Sarojini Naidu and Kalpana Chawla for girl’s hostel. This is also a part of motivation for students as they feel unique when they step into the hostel rooms. The hostels have a common room also called as T.V room enabled with a Television and sitting arrangements as a part of entertainment and even enjoyment during cricket matches or other events. The hostels have secured Wi-Fi facility for students and staff to browse and research for their assignments.
